This joint composition between South Indian Carnatic singer and composer Supriya Nagarajan and composer Hari Baskar was developed during a residency at Snape Maltings and depicts the varied and ever-changing monsoon rains in Mumbai. The piece begins gently with an underlying ostinato drone, before breaking into dance-like, pulsing rhythms and more atmospheric melodies.

A beautiful woman from the front, but hollow from the back, she symbolises the femininity and mythical elements of the forest. To encounter her is considered a good omen, but she is not to be followed or chased. A number of extended techniques are used in this movement to invoke the sounds of a forest and an audience with Metsänpiika.
